View from our apartment

Our apartment is on the 10th floor of a 14 story building.  From the balcony you can see the rest of Ra’anana followed by Herzliya to one side and Kfar Saba to the other side.  When the air is clear, between the high rises you can see the Mediterranean Sea.  And on the other side you can clearly see just beyond Kfar Saba the rolling hills and villages of the Shomron, the West Bank.  Ra’anana is pretty much right in the middle at the narrowest part of the country.  With a simple turn of your head you can scan from the hills to the sea.  That’s it.

In other news, we were invited to Shabbat lunch last week with a nice family from the shul.  They had another family over as well whom we had also met at the shul.  One guy was British, the rest were Americans.  They have kids close in age to ours, one family actually has twin boys the same age as ours.  They live a block and a half from us so it was an easy walk after walking home from shul.  The people are very nice and welcoming, and everyone has their own story of how/why they’re here.  Two of the people are doctors so we were able to get some good job advice as well.  And we also talked about the local schools and some of the youth groups that the kids are involved in.  So far our kids have not really made any friends, but thankfully they have each other and have been having fun just sleeping in, going to the beach and local community pool, and of course, playing video/computer games with each other.  We decided that we will start them in one of the youth groups once the school year starts.  Things will ramp up pretty quickly then…
