The Move…
We are finally here – its been a hectic week and I only got the internet working a couple of days ago so I’ve fallen behind on posting. But here are a few more pics from the move:
Junk haulers loading the truck. We eventually ended up with three full truckloads of JUNK!
junking the kids old bedframes, which were converted from their original baby cribs. (and were not very study and had already broken several times anyway)
nice operation, if you’re looking for junk haulers in phoenix.
Now that the junk is gone (mostly. they actually had to keep coming back because we kept underestimating how much junk we actually had. after the first full load, we called them back two additional times (thus the three full loads).
Now we’re putting the remaining furniture we have in storage. Instead of renting a storage unit and putting the stuff in ourselves, we found a company that will come to you house, pack everything, inventory it, and take it away to storage. they take cell pics of everything so you can access it all online, and you can have them deliver all of it or only specific items whenever and wherever you want.

I think we had a truck load and a half of storage.

After the storage and the junk, we had to get the rest of our possessions to fit in one of the basement bedrooms. As you know if you’ve ever moved before, its amazing how much stuff is squirreled away in every corner of the house – its like it just keeps multiplying; the more stuff you box up, the more there seems to be.

after several hours packing the kids “art corner,” the kids started losing it…
we did find some cool, old stuff!
All of the above pertains only to getting the house empty and ready to rent. A completely separate thing is actually packing for Israel itself. Most of our stuff went in boxes into the basement bedroom. But we had a small but growing pile if stuff we wanted to take with us (non-clothing items). Then we had to separate our clothes into stuff to store, and stuff to take. We decided not to send lift (a cargo container with all our stuff), so we are only taking what we an fly with. Which is three bags per person. So that’s 18 checked bags. And in order to maximize the amount of stuff you can bring, you want very light bags so they don’t take up a lot of the 50lb allowance for each bag. So we ordered 16 cheap duffel bags on amazon, and used one folding suitcase for hanging items and one hard back suitecase for small/breakable non clothing items.
