Its day 10 of my 14 day home quarantine.  It sucks.  I try to keep to a regular schedule.  I read a little, write a little, I have some remote medical work I can do, but not nearly enough to keep me busy.  I watch movies with the kids in the evenings sometimes, and we’ve watched a few science documentaries together.  I read the news on the internet to keep up with how the world is falling apart.  Peter Beinart, Benjamin Netanyahu, Benny Gantz, Seth Rogan, a missle from Gaza, explosions in Beirut.  I chat with a few people on whatsapp, call my parents, attended a Nefesh B’Nefesh zoom webinar.  It’s amazing, you’d think with all the technology that everything would be fine.  I mean, a week and a half home vacation – who wouldn’t want that?  And, all the time with my family.  And you’re right, that aspect is nice.  I am thankful for every minute of it, in fact.  But I still need to get outside.  I feel like I haven’t even really come back yet.  If this really is the new normal, I’m not sure how all the people who travel back and forth for work are going to be able to keep it up.  And the weird thing is, its not like if I could go out, I’d go anywhere that exciting anyway.  I’d still be reading the news, and doing much the same as I’m doing now.  Its not like I’d be some foreign journalist traveling the globe.  And yet to be stuck in here just feels different.

  1. Hi, Adam:
I gather that you’re back (to stay?) in Israel. I get, and read, 3 different internet news groups from Israel, so am very nervous about all of the surrounding problems. Are you sure that you all wouldn’t rather just come back to AZ where things are still “SOMEWHAT Normal?” At least it’s peaceful and people are accepted here–something I think is a big plus!

When you do come back for work, please feel free to let me know & I’d love to have you over for dinner. I sent my granddaughters a cc of your last e-mail & they LOVED IT! pictures and subtitles fabulous!

Love to Val and the kids as well

    1. Hi, thanks for the note, and I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time I’m back in AZ – glad to hear about your granddaughter!
