Housing crisis solved!

Unbelievable but earlier this week, on the same one day, we finalized our lease on our furnished rental apartment in Ra’anana; and on the same day we listed our home here for rent.  And on the same day we received an offer and finalized the lease.  So now we have a place to live in Israel and we have our house here rented!

I forwarded our address to the city of Ra’anana so we can get the kids officially registered for school, although I still have to follow up on that to confirm, and I forwarded it to the Israeli cell phone company so we’ll be able to activate our cell service the day we leave.  Turns out they offer plans now that give us an Israeli SIM card with an Israeli number and they also port our US numbers to our Israeli account so we’ll have a “virtual” American number (same as our current cell phone number). That way our US contacts can still reach us on the same number.  Just like magic!
And all the while the boxes in the basement have been multiplying.  I’ve been trying to do at least some packing every night and for several hours on weekends that past several weeks.  Most of the breakable display stuff is packed, most of the books, all of the games, old CDs and cassette tapes too.  Some of the camping gear and our old dive gear.  But the house still looks full.  And the garages still look full.
I can’t quite get a mental picture in my head of how its all going to get packed in time.  It feels like time is accelerating, like we’re swishing around a vortex on a raft at one of the Wet’nWild rides, going faster and faster until we shoot out the small hole in the middle and out the other side.  The kids are done school now, and I have two more weeks at work.  And ten days after that…..
