When the opportunity presents itself….

Random day in Fall 2017,  We’ve been back from our second summer trip to Israel for several months.  The kids are back in school.  Our five year plan is now a four year plan.  I keep talking about it, and about how we would do it, and when we would get started planning.  But Val is starting to have some concerns and is having second thoughts.

But one night she says “you know, if we really want to do this, I’m willing to give it one year to see how it goes.  But if it doesn’t work out and we end up moving back to Phoenix, I want the kids to be able have a year of school left before starting high school so they’ll be able to get into a good college.”  OK, that means the girls would have to be entering 8th grade if we came back after a year in Israel.  That means they would be in Israel for 7th grade.  They’re currently in the middle of 5th grade.  We would need to move there at the beginning of a school year, so that means we could either do it this coming summer when they’ll be entering 6th grade, but that’s only 6 months away, or the summer after that, a year and a half from now, when they’ll be entering 7th grade.

Wow, I think.  I’m pretty sure that’s about two year earlier than my five year plan was figuring.  Our original five year plan has about three and a half years left, and this is only in one and half years.  But if Val says we should do it, who am I to argue?

There are times in life when an opportunity presents itself.  And it may present itself only once.  If you don’t grab it, you may not get a second chance.  So I say, OK lets do it.  A year and a half from now.
